A Shot in the Dark: Dev Log 15-Sep-2023

We are now doing weekly dev logs, but alternating between our two games. This week, it's all about A Shot in the Dark, and next week we'll give an update on Prince of Suburbia.

Our YouTube strike is over, and it looks like we may have finally found a CPA to help us with our taxes! We're glad to have those things off our plate. We have been closely following the news about Unity, as we'd planned to use it for our next game, but it's looking like we may have to go back to the drawing board... At least it's not just the adult game developers who are scrambling this time, which is a nice change given all the issues we've had lately. :)

We are still gradually working on replacing music throughout the game where necessary, a process that will probably last the rest of the Chapter 4 dev cycle, unfortunately. We had already chosen most of the music for Chapter 4, so this change sadly erased the hours of work already invested into that for this development cycle. :(

Removing old songs will likely break some saves, so we apologize in advance for that! We always do our best to avoid breaking saves, but sometimes it's impossible to avoid. A lot of code is also being refactored to make the translation process more efficient, so the reality is there were already some potentially save-breaking changes this update.

Renders for the Ashley scene are totally finished, as are the renders for a brief scene involving Elly, which brings the render count to 570. Josselyn has been working on writing for both the Sophie and Monica scenes, but both still need a bit more before they can be declared 100% complete. TheOmega has implemented the Alexis scene into the code, and is finishing up the animations for that scene. They are looking hot!

Here is some SFW previews from the Elly scene!
